Traditionally, Islamic scholars achieved certification by training under other scholars at universities in Saudi Arabia. Recently, more scholars have begun independently developing and offering Islamic scholarship education online (via static informational websites, social media content, and interactive Zoom courses)

A confrontational approach involves voicing disagreement publicly, shaming leaders for bad policies or inaction, and using credibility to advocate outside of official settings. Conversely, a political approach involves only operating within professional boundaries, maintaining good relationships with politicians, and remaining moderate on controversial issues.

For the purpose of this debate, "cut-off culture" refers to the social phenomenon of figuratively cutting people out of one's life. Anyone from acquaintances to significant figures which may include, but are not limited to, close friends and family members are capable of being cut-off from one's life. This act is most commonly, though not exclusively, done at or after the point of conflict/tension within a relationship.
